The Classic Carlectables 1:18 Ford XA Falcon GT Hardtop #5D recreates one of the standout Falcons from the 1973 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 at Bathurst, driven by John Goss and Kevin Bartlett.
The McLeod Ford XA GT showed exceptional pace around Mount Panorama. Goss secured pole position with a 2 minute 33.4 second lap and the pairing went on to record the fastest lap of the race. Their strong run ultimately came to an unfortunate end following an incident involving George Garth's GTR Torana at The Esses/Energol Cutting, with damage to the Falcon's front guard and radiator ending its challenge.
One of the most distinctive features of the #5D Falcon was its front spoiler. Following homologation for the XA GT in August 1973, the McLeod Hardtop was the only Falcon competing at Bathurst that year fitted with the spoiler, giving this particular race car an instantly recognisable appearance and an important place in Australian touring car history.
Recreated in impressive 1:18 scale, Classic Carlectables has captured the #5D XA GT with extensive exterior, interior, engine bay and chassis detailing. Features include the vinyl-covered headlights and driving lights, detailed XA GT bonnet and hold-downs, race-prepared interior, roll cage, racing harnesses and the distinctive dash-top gauge.
Opening areas reveal further detail, including the side-draught carburettors, engine components, Motorcraft battery and radiator. Underneath, the model features detailed chassis components together with working front suspension and steering.
A Certificate of Authenticity displaying the individual production number is also included, making this an excellent addition to a Bathurst, Ford Falcon GT or Australian motorsport collection.
